When I left my toxic relationship, I knew I needed to heal.
I knew I had to rebuild my mindset.
I knew I had to get my finances in order.
I knew I had to create a peaceful environment for my kids.
But what I didn’t realize at first… was how deeply I also needed to heal my body.
For so long, I had been in survival mode.
Skipping meals. Living on caffeine. Barely moving my body unless it was out of obligation or exhaustion.
I wasn’t caring for myself—I was just getting by.
But healing isn’t just about letting go of what broke you emotionally. It’s also about nourishing the parts of you that got neglected in the process.
And for me, that included my physical health.
Fitness became one of the most powerful parts of my healing journey.
Not because I was chasing a number on the scale.
Not because I was trying to “bounce back.”
And definitely not as some sort of revenge glow-up.
I chose fitness because I needed to feel strong again.
Because showing up for a 20-minute workout reminded me that I was worth the effort.
Because moving my body cleared the fog in my mind.
Because seeing muscles where I used to see stress and shame was empowering.
Every drop of sweat, every healthy meal, every gym check-in instead of a meltdown—those were quiet wins that added up to me coming back to life.
And now, I’m in the best shape of my life at 42.
Not because I did anything extreme—but because I created consistent habits that worked for me.
Fitness is just one facet of my thriving life—but it’s a big one.
It’s not about looking perfect.
It’s about feeling powerful in my own skin.
It’s about knowing that I can carry the weight of my life—and still feel energized doing it.
If you’re in a season where you’re ready to move forward, to take care of yourself again, to feel strong in your body—not just emotionally, but physically too—then I want to invite you to join me.
The StrongHER Fitness Challenge starts June 1st.
It’s completely free.
